My Grandparents and Mother knew the Hausrath’s very well. The store below the tracks was followed by their second store located at the corner of East Tenth Avenue and West Street.
When I visit this site which, I found via the Carnegie Library of Homestead’s website, I find so many names that my Grandmother and Mother spoke of so fondly. The Coltin’s ,Friedlander’s,Grinberg’s (both Meyer and Morris),Weinberg’s and more. I have not visited Homestead in many, many years, but the memory of the Borough is etched in my mind,as is the Schul . Thank you for all that you have done in making this website and its resources so readily available. I look forward to each entry.

My father,Bernard Hausrath, would have been 98 on July 5th. I came across these pictures of my grandfathers store while looking for info on my dad. I remember them talking about the store by the mill but that was before me. We lived a few doors up West street from the 2nd store. Great memories.
    Thank you for posting them
