This deed, available here as a PDF, records the sale of “lots number one, two, three, four, five and six (1-2-3-4-5 and 6) in a certain plan of lots known as Homeville, which said plan is recorded in the Recorder’s office in Allegheny County in plan book vol. 14, page 196” from Jacob & Elizabeth Trautman to the Homestead Hebrew Congregation.

More interesting is the plan referenced by the deed, which shows the land purchased.

Original plan of the cemetery (adapted from the Plan of Homeville).  While this map depicts the land in its proper geographical direction, visitors to the cemetery see it in the opposite direction, entering today where the 0 in 40′ is and looking up the hill towards the bottom point of the yellow triangle.
