On the one hand, there is so much to chuckle at here — that the shul offered to donate these groggers (and not just toss them), that the donation was accepted by the Heinz History Center, and most of all that the staff at the collections management area wheeled them out to me on a cart whereupon I beheld the groggers gently resting on a cushion.

On the other, this process speaks to the whole reason why we conserve such items — because the everyday objects of our lives turn into the curious ephemera of the past far more quickly than any of us realize.
